My daughter was just there and almost died. She got pulled under about 20ft of water, sucked into a cavelike area and almost drowned. Fortunately, she got thrown into the ocean where she was rescued.…Full review by Susan D

10/10. I was nervous because I am not very active in my daily life and thought this may be too difficult. It was definitely some exercise but super worth it! This is the most gorgeous spot on the isl…Full review by Mackenzie W

We drove to the tide pools and it was very scary! If it had rained or was wet when we were going there or back we never would have made it. DO NOT try this if you aren’t experienced in overlanding or…Full review by Shannon3000
Are the Carambola tide pools the same as the Annaly Bay Tide pools? Is one harder to get to than the other?

I think these tidal pool are actually in Davis Bay but if you are adventurous enough you can climb over the first ones and go on to Annaly Bay where I think there are more pools. We did not go too much further than the first couple of pools but looked like there were more if you went further.
We arrive into St. Croix on Jan. 9th., 2016 via cruise ship. We will be there from 7AM to 4PM. We would love to explore the Carambola Tide pools. How far are we from the head of the trail from the port? Can we take a taxi and or walk to the Trail head? Thank you for any information you can provide.

If you’re sailing into Frederiksted it’s about 25-30 minutes by car to the hotel then plan 45 minutes to hike each way. It’s a rocky muddy hike but fun and worth it. The beach is all stone and makes a cool sound as waves recede. The pools are fun but you must be careful climbing rocks to get into pools. Waves crash over to fill w water so it’s fun.
How much is this trip? Is there transportation from the Royal Caribbean ship pier?

Hiking to the pools is free, you just have to get to the Renaissance hotel in Carambola, where the trail starts. It's a two and a half mile hike through the rainforest (not too strenuous, but there is some that's uphill) each way. The trail ends at a beautiful beach, and then off to the left are the rocks you climb over to get to the tide pools. It's really stunning. So you'd just need to get a cab from the pier to the hotel, and one back when you're done. (We were already staying at the Renaissance; we weren't there on a cruise.) by the way - you should check the timing of the tide levels. If it's not low tide, it's dangerous to climb the rocks and go in the tide pools. But when the tide is low, it's very doable. Hope that helps!
