Comprising the main islands of Trinidad and Tobago, along with numerous smaller islands, it is home to a population of approximately 1.5 million people, and a diaspora population of over 335,000. It is located 11 kilometres northeast off the coast of Venezuela, 130 kilometres south of Grenada, and west of Barbados. Its capital city is Port of Spain, while its largest and most populous municipality is Chaguanas. Despite its proximity to South America, Trinidad and Tobago is generally considered to be part of the Caribbean.
