It is not safe for swimming. The cleanliness of the water is in question, there are some undercurrents that are dangerous, and there is underwater vegetation that has been known to ensnare waders and swimmers. There are no swimming signs, but unfortunately, some do not heed and there have been drownings. On the other hand, there is an interesting history on signs in the Park and in the Visitor Center. There’s also a nice play ground. Thanks for asking.
