Morton Township is a civil township of Mecosta County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 4,426 at the 2020 census. Morton Township is in central Mecosta County, 17 miles southeast of Big Rapids, the county seat. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 35.6 square miles, of which 33.0 square miles are land and 2.6 square miles, or 7.27%, are water. A cluster of small lakes, including Canadian Lakes, Lake Mecosta, Round Lake, and Blue Lake, occupy the western half of the township.
