Oakland Memory Lanes was established in 1860 by George and Catherine Dolton. Cemetery offices are located at 15200 Lincoln Avenue (Michigan City Road), Dolton IL 60419. It was family owned and operated until 1966 when it was sold to George T. Sharpen. Overlooking the Veterans Section known as Little Arlington is a statue dedicated to our fallen comrades. The statue was erected in 1907 by the Grand Army of the Republic and dedicated by the Women's Relief Corps #279 in 1911. Later G.W. Spencer, Post 489 Department of Illinois GAR, contributed to the Civil War commemoration and the Old Glory Plaque was dedicated May 31, 1971. Two Civil War Cannons owned by the American Legion Paul Gall Post 303 stands at the entrance to the cemetery. Gracing the Tear Drop in front of the cemetery office stands the 9/11 Remembrance Monument, which was erected solely from contributions made by our lot owners and a few business people.
