Driving south from Mount Magazine State Park toward Hot Springs, we enjoyed the scenery of the Ouachita National Forest. The visitor center south of Mount Magazine was very welcoming. Full review by Raintree_Thailand

This place is absolutely beautiful. There are trails, scenic overlooks, lakes, and campgrounds. Most of the roads are narrow and winding, so be careful. Full review by jww002

We're stopping off at Ouachita National Forest on our drive from Dallas to Kansas City in late June. We'll have a 3 month old with us. One possible route is 88 to 280 to 71. We'd like to spend a night in the park, preferably at a scenic spot, and do a few easy trails. Is this a good route to take? If so, where would you recommend spending the night? Thank you!
A:

As far as the ONF goes, I just drove past the Charlton Rec Area, it is closed. The ONF trails are open. ☺
