We loved the river walk in the day time and at the night time. We made sure we ate lunch and dinner sitting outside by the riverwalk for our entire 7 day trip. We loved the riverwalk so much that we …Full review by Ron K

Hello, My wife & I and my brother & his wife will be going to San Antonio Riverwalk area. Have a few questions and Thank You in advance for your information. 1 - Anyone ever stay at the Drury Plaza Riverwalk and your thoughts? 2 - I don’t get around very well and will have a Handicap Scooter I will be driving. Will I be able to get around the Riverwalk with this? 3 - would like to take a Riverwalk Boat ride. Not sure if I can take the Mobility Scooter on the boat. Also, any thoughts we can do with me riding a Mobility Scooter?

I would have doubted the mobility scooter on the boat as well, but we actually saw someone with one onboard. It was a bit tricky unloading, they put a few people from that person's party on the opposite side of the boat to offset the scooter load and line up with the landing elevation, but it worked. Didn't look like the first time the boat company had done it.
My wife and I are disabled we have are own scooter can we use them with a handicap ♿️ placard

While I can't answer your question from a legal or bylaw perspective, the river walk does have at least one elevator access from street level (may be another at the mall?) and though I didn't notice any handicap scooters on the walk, there were people with strollers or walkers. The walk is level but caution that there is no railing for most of it and should you drop a wheel off the edge, you could go for a swim (apparently a $500 fine if caught in the river....). Note also that the bridges that cross over the river from one side to the other have stairs (at least all the ones we crossed). I think someone from San Antonio or another more knowledgeable person should wade in here with more information. I'd try to reach the local visitor info site for that. There are restaurants and some shops as well as the river cruise are accessible with a wheelchair or scooter.
I really can't stand heat and humidity. Would I be silly going to San Antonio? Would I be OK going in winter? What months ((if any) are cool but dry?
A:
Winter averages are around mid 60's but it can drop down to the 40's. Probably not much chance of rain though. I'd avoid Christmas and Thanksgiving because of the extra cost of travel.
