I have a very short weekend in Scottsdale, but think I would be remiss if I didn't at least try and see Tonto National Forest, or any of the surrounding beautiful areas. Any suggestions or recommendations on where in Tonto would be best to explore/see? I'm spending some time at the Taliesin West Saturday morning, and leaving Sunday evening so not a ton of time, unfortunately.

If you are a hiker, head a bit south to Gold Canyon and hike the Peralta Trail, it's an amazing hike. All under an hour drive from the center of Phoenix.

G'Day... although there are several boating recreational possibilities on the river itself, and vehicle/boat trailer combos are common, I have to agree with the others, anything longer than 24' and wider than a normal truck would be dicey. If you are compelled to do this, I would suggest approaching the trail from the reservoir side and bypassing the Fish Creek climb which is hard enough with a smaller vehicle, and then returning the same way. It may be helpful for you to get a look see before making any decisions. You can view the entire route via Google Earth's 'street view' feature if you like. Cheers
