Woods Bay is located in northern Lake County on the eastern shore of the northern end of Flathead Lake. It is bordered to the north by the community of Bigfork in Flathead County. Montana Highway 35 passes through the community, leading north 5 miles into Bigfork and south 28 miles to Polson, the Lake county seat. Kalispell is 22 miles northwest of Woods Bay via highways 35, 82, and 93.
