Dr. McDonough earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine. He completed an internal medicine residency at Washington University School of Medicine, and fellowships in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. During this time, he participated in a program providing colorectal cancer screening to the underserved population in southwestern Virginia. Dr. McDonough serves as medical director of the Hepatitis C Clinic at DePaul Hospital. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterology Association, and has authored several articles for medical publications and has received numerous honors and awards.
