We were there in November, so it was a much warmer time of year than you will experience, and the waterflow in the falls was very low, so there was not a lot of mist to contend with. We went up around 11am. The heli had no airflow inside, & it was a very warm ride at that time of day. Personally, I'd get signed up for an early time of day, less people, cooler temps, and less thermals to cause any "bumps" (if you are motion sickness prone). They also sometimes load the heli's up to capacity, and although everyone on our flight got a window seat, that is not always the case. That said, the people who work there are very helpful, and I'm sure they would know a lot about the typical conditions for August, and would communicate easily with you via email. FYI, even though we had paid our excursion fee through our tour company, I recall needing to pay a "park fee" in cash upon check-in. Something to do with the heliport being on a park, so head's up for that, too. Enjoy - it goes by fast, but is worth doing -especially if you love taking pictures!

I pre-organised it through a local company, Victoria Falls Guide, who arranged our various trips during our 3 day stay at Vic Falls. The cost was $150 for about 12-15 minutes flight-time. There is an additional 'park fee' of $15 for this particular trip ( variable with each activity you do). However, a spectacular view of the falls if there is enough water flowing.
