A somewhat tattered American flag still flies near the debris of a ruined structure in the Elkhorn Ranch neighborhood north of Elizabeth on Monday, May 19, 2025, after a tornado touched down there the previous day. Numerous homes in the neighborhood were heavily damaged. No deaths or injuries were reported.
The tornadoes in the Bennett area and the Elkhorn neighborhood in northwest Elbert County both EF2, meaning the twisters had wind speeds of 111 to 135 mph, according to the weather service.
