Two weeks after President Donald Trump’s sweeping tax bill passed the House with razor-thin margins, the Senate has begun to tinker with the legislation’s architecture. Some are now warning that changes in that chamber could cause the edifice to collapse.

The bill passed by the House would raise the standard deduction by up to $4,000 for those 65 and over, starting in 2025 to 2028.
