Angelina Resendiz vanished from her barracks at Naval Station Norfolk the morning of Thursday, May 29. Nearly two weeks later, her body was recovered behind an elementary school in Norfolk.

The dead body that was found in the Broad Creek neighborhood is confirmed to be Naval Seaman Angelina Resendiz, according to a statement released from the family.

A representative of the family of missing sailor Angelina Resendiz said they are waiting on DNA testing to determine if the remains found are hers.

NCIS says charges are pending against a sailor in connection to the death of Angelina Resendiz, a missing sailor whose death was confirmed Tuesday following a positive identification of her remains.
