A federal regulator on Wednesday ordered Apple and Goldman Sachs to pay a combined $89 million for deceiving consumers and mishandled transaction disputes of Apple Card customers.The Consumer Finance Protection Bureau orders point to “customer service breakdowns and misrepresentations” around Apple and Goldman's credit card partnership.

Apple and Goldman Sachs will pay over $89 million in combined fines and refunds because of failures stemming from the companies’ Apple Card partnership, according to U.S. regulators Wednesday, which temporarily blocked Goldman from issuing new credit cards.

Apple didn’t send “tens of thousands” of Apple Card transaction disputes to Goldman Sachs, according to the CFPB. The CFPB says that Goldman Sachs didn’t complete timely inquires on disputes it received in accordance with federal law, either.
