Byron Buxton exited the game against the Cubs after suffering a left-hand contusion, as he was hit by a pitch from Cade Horton.

His second All-Star Game selection will go down as one of his greatest satisfactions in the sport, considering the path he's taken to get here and the fact that the festivities next week will be in his native Georgia.

Buxton announced his plans to compete in next Monday’s Home Run Derby on his Instagram account a day after he was named the Twins’ lone representative in the All-Star Game. It will be his second Midsummer Classic but the first time he’s participated in the derby.
