After more than a month of testimony, evidence and more, jurors have brought the Eric Thompson murder trial to an end after deciding his fate.

HONOLULU (Island News) – Jurors in the Eric Thompson trial granted the 37-year-old to life with parole. This comes after Thompson was found guilty on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, of murdering his wife’s ex-lover. Thompson was accused of shooting acupuncturist Jon Tokuhara in 2022 at his Waipahu clinic.

The jury unanimously agreed the prosecution failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that an extended sentence is necessary for the protection of the public.
