Police shut down the busy thoroughfare at 28th Street at about 10 a.m. and expected it to be closed for an hour.

Des Moines police are closing a section of Ingersoll Avenue Thursday morning as the Des Moines Fire Department responds to a structure fire. Both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Ingersoll Avenue are temporarily closed at 28th Street.

Firefighters are on the scene of an apartment building on Ingersoll Avenue after a fire was reported Thursday morning. Crews were called to the scene at Ingersoll Ave. and 28th Street around 10:00 a.m.
