Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot drawing is now worth an estimated $1.22 billion, likely luring more people to convenience stores with dreams of winning big.

Your dreams of becoming a billionaire could become a reality on Friday night if you have the winning Mega Millions numbers.

In total, there were 139 scratch tickets worth $1 million claimed in 2024. Seven lottery players won $1 million playing Powerball and four won $1 million playing Mega Millions, while two seven-figure Megabucks jackpots — $5.37 million and $2.64 million — were also won this year.

The winning ticket was sold at Sunshine Food and Gas in Cottonwood, northern California, the California State lottery said.

One Mega Millions player has plenty of dough to ring in the New Year after drawing the winning number. After three months without anyone winning the top prize, a winning ticket worth an estimated $1.22 billion was sold in the drawing Friday night.
