Met Éireann has predicted a cold morning with icy stretches and also with the risk of some sleet and snow showers, adding that there will be isolated thunderstorms. This may hamper efforts to restore power the the thousands still left without light, heat, and water.

As Storm Herminia reaches Ireland, Met Éireann are already issuing Status Yellow wind, rain, snow and ice warnings across the country. While much of the country is still reeling from the impact of Storm Éowyn, it will be Monday before this stormy period passes.

Met Éireann have asked people to stay at home as winds have not reached their strongest speeds. Met Éireann Senior Forecaster Gerry Murphy said on RTÉ's Morning Ireland: "People should not be out this morning. "This warning has been well heralded over the last few days.
