Sergeant Bluff native and Iowa pitcher Daniel Wright was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 10th round. Wright had 20 strikeouts in his 18 appearances for the Hawkeyes last season and posted a 3.41 ERA. Prior to his time at Iowa, he played at Houston for two seasons.

Obermueller, a lefty pitcher from Iowa City, Iowa, was selected in the 19th round of the 2024 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers. Rather than join the MLB ranks, though, he decided to instead come back to Iowa City. That was a great decision.

On Day 2 of the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft, the Milwaukee Brewers drafted 10 high-school players out of 17 picks.

The first 105 picks in the 2025 draft process will take place on Sunday night. The first round only features 27 picks this year as the Dodgers, Mets and Yankees were all stripped of their first-round selections as penalties for spending above luxury-tax thresholds.

With the No. 19 overall pick in the 2025 draft, the Baltimore Orioles selected outfielder/catcher Ike Irish out of Auburn University.

The Kansas City Royals made their first two selections in the 2025 MLB Draft on Sunday evening, July 13. The Royals select second baseman and outfielder Sean Gamble from IMG Academy with the 23rd overall pick and Wesleyan Christian third baseman Josh Hammond with the 28th pick.
