First baseman Pete Alonso has officially tied the New York Mets’ franchise home run record. Alonso blasted his 252nd homer at the American Family Field on Saturday evening, following a 1-2 count against Brewers’ pitcher Tobias Myers in the top of the second inning.

NEW YORK — Mets legend Darryl Strawberry has company atop the all-time franchise home run record, and his name is Pete Alonso. On Saturday , Alonso etched his name in the Mets’ record books with a single swing. His second inning home run, No. 252, in his career puts him in a tie with Strawberry, who is a member of the Mets’ Hall of Fame.
