Custom AI ASICs set to hit hyperscale workloads  MediaTek has buddied up with Nvidia in what it claims is a groundbreaking partnership to build tailor-made AI silicon that plugs neatly into the NVLink Fusion ecosystem.

As the name implies, NVLink Fusion is based on NVLink, which is in its fifth generation. It lets GPUs share memory, making for very fast data transfers between GPUs. For example, according to Nvidia, a Blackwell GPU supports 18 NVLink 100 GBps connections (1.8TBps), creating 14x the bandwidth of PCIe Gen5.
