Mikel Arteta fears Riccardo Calafiori could join Arsenal's mounting injury list but vowed the Gunners "will be flying" against Liverpool on Sunday. Calafiori limped out of Tuesday's 1-0 Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk at Emirates Stadium 18 minutes from the end after falling awkwardly on his right leg.

Bukayo Saka was again absent due to a hamstring injury while Martin Odegaard remains out with an ankle injury and is unlikely to return in time for the visit of Liverpool. Jurrien Timber, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu are also on Arsenal’s injury list but Arteta said Ben White’s half-time substitution against Shakhtar was tactical.

Arsenal made it back-to-back home wins in the Champions League with an unconvincing 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk, settled by an own goal from goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk after 29 minutes. In an open contest, Leandro Trossard missed a second-half penalty, saved by Rizny's legs, before David Raya was forced into a smart late save.
