Sam Burns has taken the second-round lead at the U.S. Open and several big names in the field have missed the cut as Oakmont Country Club continues to pack a punch.

The third round of the U.S. Open on June 14 at the Oakmont Country Club will begin at 9:12 a.m. when Philip Barbaree tees off as a single player, due to an odd number making the 7-over cut. The last twosome of leader Sam Burns (3-under) and J.J. Spaun (2-under) will tee off at 3:35 p.m.

Reilly Opelka hammered 24 aces and knocked off top-seeded Daniil Medvedev of Russia 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5) on Friday to advance to the Libema Open semifinals in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.

Sam Burns capped his second-round, 5-under 65 with a 22-foot par save on his final hole. Burns ran into trouble off the tee at the par-4 ninth, his 18th, and took a penalty-stroke drop into the fairway.
