Mariska Hargitay has starred as the beloved Detective Olivia Benson since the show’s debut season, a role that's earned her numerous accolades, including an Emmy and a Golden Globe. Now, the show is wrapping its 26th season on May 15.

There will! Law & Order: SVU was officially renewed for season 27 in May 2025, although it was a decision which was fully expected some time before that. In April 2025 the series appointed a new showrunner, Michele Fazekas, the first time a woman has held that role on the show. She will take over from David Graziano for season 27.

Heading into the Law & Order: SVU finale, we know two things: Benson’s ( Mariska Hargitay) squad is about to lose two detectives, Velasco ( Octavio Pisano) and Silva (Juliana Aidan Martinez), and she’s about to get her close friend, Rollins ( Kelli Giddish ), back full time in the fall.
