Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga’s movie flop “Folie à Deux” falls out of the domestic box office top five in its third week of release.

Joker 2 is fast becoming 2024’s biggest box office flop, overtaking Borderlands while losing Warner Bros. a fortune.

Folie à Deux plummeted in its sophomore frame at the box office. The genre-fluid sequel to 2019’s blockbuster hit Joker registered a record drop in collections domestically, cementing its stature as one of the biggest bombs of the year,

The Christmas-themed slasher premiered last month during Fantastic Fest 2024, and has earned positive marks from critics, including CinemaBlend's Nick Venable, who calls it a "jubilantly gruesome gorefest" in his three-and-a-half star Terrifier 3 review.

“Joker: Folie á Deux” isn’t rebounding at the international box office, where the off-beat comic book musical added $22.6 million from 77 territories in its second weekend of release.

After collapsing in its opening weekend, and then being all but eviscerated in its sophomore frame, Joker: Folie à Deux witnessed a further drop in revenue as it entered only its third week in theaters on the verge of a premature debut on digital streaming platforms.

Folie a Deux" is not the only blockbuster-budgeted film to fall flat at the box office this year. Studios including Universal, Sony and Lionsgate have dropped hundreds of millions of dollars on franchise features and star-studded ensembles only to see ticket sales sputter.
