The Washington Capitals said an email sent out Thursday announcing that the 2025-26 campaign will be legendary forward Alex Ovechkin's final NHL season is not accurate.

The Washington Capitals knocked down reports that next year will be all-time leading goal scorer Alexander Ovechkin’s last in the NHL, saying no decision has been made on the Russian’s future.

Earlier on Thursday, an email from the Washington Capitals said next season would be Alex Ovechkin’s last in the NHL.
