The White House is seeking fines from several universities it says failed to stop antisemitism on campus, including Harvard University, in exchange for restoring federal funding, a Trump administration official said on Friday.

Tricia McLaughlin, the assistant secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, confirmed a report by the Washington Post that ICE ordered staff to place ankle monitors on all people enrolled in the agency's Alternatives to Detention program "whenever possible."

According to a Thursday court declaration filed in the Northern District of California, the administration sought the go-ahead to lay people off at 17 agencies, including the departments of the Treasury, State, Interior, Agriculture, Labor, Commerce, Housing  and Urban Development, and Health and Human Services.
