World Rally Championship drivers have taken a stand against the recent penalties imposed by the FIA on drivers for swearing publicly, calling for open dialogue

World rally drivers issued a joint statement on Monday condemning the governing body's crackdown on swearing and seeking talks with FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem to help find an "urgent solution".

Last year’s Formula 1 season saw a few drivers — including Drivers’ Champion Max Verstappen — fined for their use of language. Verstappen, for example, was ordered to conduct community service after swearing during the FIA Press Conference ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix.

Fourmaux became the first driver to fall victim to a highly controversial rule introduced by the FIA over the winter break. Under the new legislation, drivers in premier racing series can receive punishments that scale to £101,400 (€120,000) fines, championship point deductions and even a one-month suspension for repeated swearing.
