Israel’s former defence minister has resigned from the country’s parliament over the government’s intention to exempt ultra-Orthodox Jewish men from army service.

Former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced his resignation from the Knesset on Wednesday. His decision comes after months of political discord with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his far-right coalition government.
