PATNA: In a nondescript corner of Vaishali district are the site museum and Ananda Stupa with an Asokan Pillar at Kolhua, 35km from the district headquarters and 56km from the state capital.

Those inscriptions, popularly known as ‘Asokan edicts', are spread over a major part of India and outside up to Kandahar in Afghanistan, and they are the most important sources of study.
