The Penn State Marching Blue Band, under the direction of Dr. O. Richard Bundy, is recognized as one of the best college marching bands in the Nation.

The blue band has tryouts in August; many of the high school students who participated today say - they plan on applying to Penn State and trying out in the fall.

The Blue Band is synonymous with the Iowa State Fair. Dorr said he and the group have been appearing at the fair for a third of a century, including playing all 11 days at times in the 1990s.
