A group of Bryn Mawr College students went on strike in 2020 to demand, among other things, the removal of Thomas' name from all campus buildings, including the library and the Great Hall.

Bryn Mawr College officials said they are confronting the school's past by removing the name of the school's first dean and second president -- M. Carey Thomas -- from its Old Library, this week.

1906-1908 (46 rooms). During the later expansion, Lockwood de Forest was the interior designer. The Deanery was demolished in 1968 for the construction of the Canaday Library.
