Capital One Financial services has completed its acquisition of former credit card rival Discover Financial Service, the companies announced on Sunday.

“This deal brings together two innovative, mission-driven companies that together are poised to deliver breakthrough products and experiences to consumers, businesses, and merchants,” said Richard D. Fairbank, Founder and CEO of Capital One, in a statement provided to CNET.

Through Friday, Capital One’s COF stock had returned 10.9% for 2025, while Discover shares had returned 16% as investors became more confident the deal would be completed. The KBW Bank Index had returned 2.8% so far this year. Those figures include reinvested dividends.
