The Linden oak in Bethesda, Maryland, a tree that survived from the American Revolution through a battle with Metro in the 1970s, was taken down Tuesday.
The Linden Oak, the largest white oak tree in Montgomery County, stood for about 300 years in North Bethesda before it was sawed down in July to keep it from becoming a safety hazard.
