Pasquantino dropped to seventh, from his usual third spot, in the Royals lineup because of Detroit's starter left-hander Tarik Skubal. He blooped a hit into short left field off Beau Brieske (1-2). Loftin had two of KC's four hits, including a double in the eighth.

In closing a four-game series against Cleveland by going the distance, Skubal spared the Tigers' relievers from being called into action, setting up Detroit with a full complement of bullpen arms to face the San Francisco Giants, in town for a three-game series starting on Memorial Day.

The Detroit Tigers have Tarik Skubal in their starting rotation and that’s reason enough to believe they could get to a World Series this year.
