Englewood and FBI police recovered a stolen historic painting of George Washington thanks to a Crimestoppers tip; the artwork was undamaged and will return to the insurance company.

A historic 200-year-old painting of President George Washington stolen from a storage unit last year was recently recovered, according to the Englewood Police Department.

The painting was reported stolen from a storage facility in Englewood in January 2024. The FBI assisted Englewood PD in the search, and on Monday, it was recovered from someone who acquired it without knowing it was stolen.
