Frontier Airlines announced a new promotion on Tuesday, taking aim at rival Southwest over its recent decision to end unassigned seating and a long-standing policy of free checked bags.

March 18 (UPI) --Frontier Airlines on Tuesday announced new amenities for travelers including a promotion for a free checked bag after competitor Southwest Airlines ended its free bags policy.

Airlines are also grappling with a recent drop in domestic travel demand that has weighed on first-quarter estimates. Southwest didn’t immediately comment on Frontier’s new promotion.
