Duck Creek Quarry is open for the season, but the only swimmers are geese. Right now, everyone is opting to stay out of the water and just fish from the shore. "It is pretty chilly.

On Monday afternoon, the Village of Howard was taking reports of dead geese. On Tuesday, a total of eight geese were found dead. That number is now up to 12. and could keep rising.

The Canada geese were found by the quarry in December and contained to the area. The total number of geese that have died rose to 45 as of Wednesday, said Howard Humane Officer Matt Atkinson.
