Rumeysa Ozturk, a 30-year-old doctoral student at Tufts, was handcuffed and hauled away Tuesday night on a Boston street.

A spokeswoman for the school said the detainment occurred off campus, but it was not immediately clear why the student had been targeted.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security accused Ozturk, a Turkish national, of "activities in support of Hamas."
