The Gospels in the Bible say that Jesus was a Jew who was born around 4 B.C. in Bethlehem and lived in Egypt as a child for a short time before moving to Nazareth.

Taylor said that the pressure on Jesus was also fueled by the times in which he lived. Jesus was likely born between 4 and 6 BC, at the tail end of Herod’s reign.

The details of the trip to Egypt made by Jesus, Mary and Joseph are not included in the Bible, which has only one reference to “the flight into Egypt” in Matthew 2:13-2:15.
