The Real Macbeth Was Nothing Like Shakespeare’s Infamous Character
On August 15, 1057, Macbeth was killed at the Battle of Lumphanan in Aberdeenshire by Malcolm’s men as he tried to return to Moray. He was about 52 years old.
"Malcolm III is, by the way, the Malcolm who's in the Shakespeare play Macbeth," he continued. "It is the Malcolm in the end of that play that's made king.
