Marcelo Mayer lived out a childhood dream Saturday afternoon when the Triple-A Worcester player was promoted to the Boston Red Sox.

Highly-touted Red Sox prospect Marcelo Mayer is on his way to Boston. The 22-year old infielder is likely to replace third baseman Alex Bregman, who left Friday's game against Baltimore with an injured quad.
