The Angels confirmed Tuesday that two-time All-Star shortstop Tim Anderson made the Opening Day roster. Anderson, 31, will likely back up former first-round pick Kevin Newman until rising star Zach Neto returns from right shoulder surgery. Anderson hit .263 with a home run, three RBI, and a .645 OPS across 61 spring plate appearances.

He took Sonny Gray deep in the first inning, giving Trout his first homer of the year. The 33-year-old outfielder has had a sluggish start to the campaign, batting .143 (3-for-21) through six games, but he's made his hits count with five RBI.
