Nissan unveils 3rd-generation Leaf EV
Digest more
Nissan revealed a teaser image of its upcoming third-generation Leaf on June 3, confirming a global debut for the new model on June 18. Departing from its traditional hatchback roots, the 2026 Leaf reemerges as a fully redesigned electric crossover SUV.
The Leaf can charge much faster than before and features a modern-looking cabin that offers large screens, built-in Google apps, and a 360-degree camera.
The bigger body can also hold a bigger battery, which means more range. The new Leaf will offer a 75-kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery, good for a max range of up to 303 miles, twice the old range. That will be paired with a single 214-hp electric motor which—we can assume, though it’s not stated—will drive the front wheels.
