People up late tonight could catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights according to the Met Office, with those in Scotland and Northern England having the highest chances of all

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) aurora forecast, the northern lights may be viewable in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and even Massachusetts tonight. The northern lights are typically most visible between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. according to NOAA.

A new map shows the chances of seeing the Northern Lights in the UK tonight (Thursday, March 13). The Met Office's space division confirmed earlier that auroras could be witnessed across the country.
