Former Celtics big man Daniel Theis is on the move as he was again traded, this time from the Pelicans to the Thunder, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. In a cost-cutting move, the Pelicans are sending Theis and draft compensation to the Thunder.

The Oklahoma City Thunder acquiring veteran center Daniel Thies and a 2031 second-round pick from the New Orleans Pelicans, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. Theis, 32, has been involved in several trade rumors this season with the Pelicans looking to move below the tax line.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have made a reported trade to bolster their frontcourt. Per ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Pelicans are shipping veteran center Daniel Theis and draft compensation to Oklahoma City. Per Will Guillory of The Athletic, the Pelicans will send a 2031 second-round pick to the Thunder.

As reported on by ESPN's senior NBA insider Shams Charania, the OKC Thunder have acquired the New Orleans Pelicans center Daniel Theis. However, the Thunder have yet to send anything back in return. Whether that be more draft picks, rights, or just cash, OKC will eventually have to give New Orleans something in return to make the trade legal.

The New Orleans Pelicans have made a trade just one day ahead of the 2024-2025 season trade deadline. Daniel Theis has been a center for the Pelicans this season starting in nine games and seeing action in 38 games total.
