macon, ga. — A Macon historian will be making his final run, or ramble, this Sunday. Historian, tour guide and retired school teacher Jim Barfield is set to lead his final Rose Hill Ramble.

Tombstones of a famous Macon architect, the city’s “youngest firefighter” and the gravesides of the victims of a mass murderer were among the stops Sunday on the Rose Hill Ramble.

Even though Barfield is stepping down, Historic Macon plans to carry on the Rose Hill Ramble. Barfield said he plans to pass the baton to Kathleen O’Neal, who has already led a ramble of her own.
