Others could see their monthly benefits reduced if the bill were to become law, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.
Almost 60% of surveyed shoppers oppose cutting or reducing funding for the food assistance program, FMI shared last week.
The new proposal would be part of Republicans' budget legislation currently being considered by lawmakers in the House of Representatives.
